I am searching for Asa READ b. 9 May 1811 in an unknown place. Asa's nephew, James WOODWARD, states that he went to live with Asa who was living in Nelson, Portage, OH in April 1842. James lived there until April 1843. It seems that Asa READ moved to another county sometime in late 1842. His whereabouts before 1920 is not known, but his son Ivor was living in Ravenna, Portage Co. in 1921 (when James died in New Castle, Penn.). I am particularly looking for James Vaughn's emigration and naturalisation records, but any instance of him in Portage Co. would be very valuable.
